Mr. Nazimuddin Chowdhury is a former Secretary to the Government of Bangladesh. He holds an MA in History from the University of Dhaka (1984) and an MA in Government Financial Management from the University of Ulster, Northern Ireland, UK (1998).
Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Chowdhury held significant roles including Finance Controller of the Defense Finance Department, Director (Finance) at Bangladesh Railway, and various Deputy and Joint Secretary positions across ministries such as Finance, Women and Children Affairs, and Home Affairs. He served as Additional Secretary and Acting Secretary, eventually becoming Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division from December 2015 to November 2017.
During his tenure as Secretary, he concurrently served as Chairman on the boards of several key energy companies, including Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Ltd., Gas Transmission Company Ltd., Bangladesh Petroleum Exploration Company Ltd., Bangladesh Gas Fields Company Ltd., Karnaphuli Gas Company Ltd., Sundarban Gas Company Ltd., and Padma Oil Company Ltd.. He was also a Director at Eastern Refinery Ltd. and Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Ltd..
Post-retirement, Mr. Chowdhury has been engaged in family businesses involving cattle, fisheries, and agriculture farming. He has also served as an Independent Director for Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) PLC. and Midland Bank PLC.. His extensive training includes departmental programs in audit, accounts, budgeting, and management accounting, along with foreign training in audit of transport services (Delhi, India), business communication (UK), and detection of fraud (JICA, Japan).
